Weekly Report: December 19 - 25
Coach Dunlop
Monday: After a long weekend on the road in Fort McMurray, we told the boys they could have the week off from practise & workouts. I drove Topher to the airport at about 10 am so he could go home and see his friends & family a bit before returning to Cochrane to focus on hockey. Jamie, Jan, Lucas, Alex, Sami, Dani, Adrian & Givi also all went home today, leaving 13 boys still in Cochrane. Unfortunately, only 2 of them bothered to go to school. I found 6 guys down at Spray Lakes playing shiny, 2 were home playing video games & 3 called in sick. To sum it all up, it was not a good day.
Tuesday: Today was better, everyone was at school except for Vesa & Rudi who were still home sick. Tanner also went home today.
Wednesday: Everyone still up at school, no one was sick. I guess they all took it serious when we told them one more class missed & they will be going home for good.
Thursday: Last day of school!!! Some of the billet families also decided to go on a skiing trip with their boys, hope they had fun & will get me some pictures to post soon! I took Connor to the airport today, we were a little early so we grabbed a bite to eat at Harvey's. I almost got my car towed too, but luckily I got there just in time!
Friday: Today was the first real off day any of us have had all year, well except for me. The Russian team participating in the Macs Midget Tournament arriving at 1, so I went out there to greet them. Then came back into Cochrane & picked up Arseny, Danis, Georgy & Rudi and we all drove out to Strathmore with Fred to watch them play an exhibition game vs the UFA Bisons. It was a good game, with Team Russia coming out on top 3-2. Not bad for a team just coming off 29 hours of travel!
Saturday: 1 more day until Christmas!!! Spent today sleeping in until about 10, got up and continued working on getting all our video up online before the holidays. Then drove into Calgary to my parents place around 4 and changed into a pair of shorts & slippers :)
Sunday: CHRISTMAS!!! I got a microwave oven & egg-poacher. Not sure what to do with either of them but thanks anyways Santa! Also got some new dress shirts & a new video camera!!! Tomorrow the Macs Midget Tournament & World Juniors begin. Gotta love Christmas & GO SISEC!!!
